the project ember scholarship fund

Project Ember is committed to increasing access to our summer day and overnight camps through full and partial scholarships. Our scholarship fund is comprised of internally allocated resources as well as community donated gifts. We believe project-based education promotes curiosity, creativity, collaboration as well as self-reliance and empathy. These skills pave the way for a life of connection and fulfillment, no matter one’s personal definition of success. We are striving to build a robust and safe program within reach for all interested kids while maintaining our commitment to competitively compensate a staff of talented professionals at industry leading staff:camper ratios.

APPLYING FOR TUITION ASSISTANCE:

If camp is outside your means, you are welcome to apply for tuition assistance. You can do so by submitting a scholarship application in our registration system and informing us of the amount of assistance needed to make camp a possibility for your family. The application is free to submit; once an application is approved, you may set up a flexible payment plan to best suit your needs. Scholarships will be awarded as funds and space allows on a first-come, first-served basis.

If it is your first time using our registration system:

  1. Please create an account in UltraCamp. Once you have added the primary adult, you must also add each child as a separate individual on the account.

  2. To access the 2022 Scholarship Application directly, use this link. You may also access the application from within UltraCamp by selecting the session titled “Scholarship Applications for Day Camp - Apply Here!”

  3. Select the child for whom you are applying for a scholarship from the account members list. You will need to submit a separate application for each child in need of a scholarship.

  4. You will be asked to confirm individual details on the account and fill in some brief questions about your need. On this page, you will be able to indicate which session(s) of camp you would like to attend as well as the price you would prefer to pay for the session. We cannot guarantee placement in a particular session, so we ask that families indicate at least two sessions that work for their schedule.

  5. Lastly, you'll be asked to sign our waiver.

  6. You're all done! Check your inbox for a confirmation email. We will follow up with you within two to three weeks of receiving your application.

If you are a returning family:
Please follow the directions above starting at step 2. Please note, the process has changed from our first year. You only need to fill out the free scholarship application, and we will follow up to finalize your registration and place you in one of the requested sessions. Please do not attempt to register for the individual session you’d like to attend. You are no longer able to complete a registration for an individual session at a reduced price.

Feel free to contact us should you have any questions about the process!

Contributing to the fund:

Representation is foundational to a healthy camp where kids learn empathy, how to work on a team, and how to listen to and incorporate different perspectives and creative ideas. We are committed to making sure families from across the economic spectrum have access to our camp and community.

From our first year in operation, before our business made even made a profit, we awarded $13,000 in scholarships with our community’s support. After our complete shutdown due to COVID-19 in 2020, we were able to reopen our doors and provide $40,000 in financial aid to families returning to camp in 2021. We are so grateful to every member of our community who has contributed to the scholarship fund and helped keep camp accessible. Thank you to all our 2022 Patron and donor families!
